These are some designs I did for Benito Cereno's comprehensive epic Santa Claus mythos (of which Santa vs. Martians is a part). Eventually I will draw some of the Santa stories, some year!
So after I did that Hipster Big Barda I started to do the ladies of X-Men as hipsters, and I think I only got 3 done... or maybe 2. The idea was to do a lot more, and I had some ideas but none of them really solidified. Here are a bunch of doodles I did around the time. I'll return to them soon! I just need to come up with some better stuff. I hope to do a print of all the X-Ladies together at some point.
Actually the real reason I didn't do any more hipster superladies is because doing hipster superheroes became so mainstream loooooololololol smh kj kj kj rolfmaow
*I just remembered a conflict that came up when I was thinking about these. One of Rogues' costumes from the 8os is already a hipster costume, it is the most hipstery costume you could possibly put her in, but instead of just settling with that one I tried to challenge myself and ended up just slamming my head into the wall by the end of it. Whoops!
I can never really decide on how I want to draw the Ninja Turtles. Sometimes they look like buff dudes with really humanoid heads, sometimes they look like gangly turtle men.
I guess I am going to try and focus this sketch blog on SKETCHES. YEAH. Cory does a swell job of posting a lot of finished looking drawings and that is just what he does because he is so handsome and cool. But it is not my strong suit I don't think. So the pressure to make stuff that looks as good as that is enough to deter posting anything at all most days. SO! I am just going to post whatever doodles and sketches I have laying around, or whatever I did, no matter if they are for something in the works, or just some brain farts that happened. So here are a couple.
These are Teddy and Edison from Bully Pulpit in a theoretical pixel form. For a future video game I like to dream about. The second one is Invincible with a melty stroke face.
These are some design sketches for DC Fifty-Too that I did back when it was starting. An interminable deluge of work and life prollems prevented these from ever being used, but they would have been some of the members of a new version of the Outsiders led by Jimmy Olsen. I am still planning to do a finished piece with all of them, and hope to do more completed sketches of each character.
Hopefully this will be the return to regular postings. If I don't have anything new to post I'll at least post some old stuff I haven't posted before.
Mad props to my broseph, Benito Cereno for helping thinktank the lineup for the team. And you haven't even seen all of them!
